Video: Dolphins join Stand Up Paddle Boarders

  • 04 March 2015

This incredible video was captured druring a recent Stand Up Paddle outing in Watamu with Tribe Watersports. As the paddle boarders headed out beyond the reef they encountered an inquisitive group of around 20 dolphins who followed them and then swam alonsgide the paddle boards, clearly intrigued by the visitors on the surface above.

They circled, swam around and jumped past the boards for over an hour, with the visitors from the UK in awe at this incredible encounter. Ben Kelliher the owner of Tribe who was guiding the trip said that these encounters are becoming more common as dolphins are relaxed and at ease with unobstrusive non motorized craft like SUP boards. This makes for a natural, peaceful and environmentally friendly way to see these rare marine mammals. If you'd like to SUP in Watamu please contact Tribe Watersports.
